HUMID HAVEN - Soil for Ferns, Calatheas & Marantas
Crispy calathea edges aren't a humidity failure on your part they usually start in the pot.
Ferns, calatheas and marantas come from the damp forest floor and crisp the moment their roots dry out. Most mixes either dry too fast or, worse, turn water-repellent as they age so water runs straight through and the roots stay thirsty anyway.
Humid Haven holds one of the highest moisture reserves we make lab-tested at GKVK, Bengaluru at 1,950 g/kg kept safe by enough air (21% porosity) that the fine roots stay damp, not drowned. Our Mineral Lock system keeps it absorbing water evenly for the long haul. Consistent moisture, the way the forest floor delivers it.
Built for: Boston/Maidenhair/Bird's Nest ferns, Calathea, Maranta, Stromanthe, Ctenanthe, Fittonia.
Lab-tested (GKVK, FAO method): AFP 21% · WHC 1,950 g/kg · pH 6.40

What's inside
- LECA fluoride-free structural drainage, appropriate for fluoride-sensitive species
- Zeolite potassium retention for frond development; moisture reserve
- Perlite macro-pore aeration
- Mineral Lock™ moisture film for palm watering cycles
- Microbial Innoculent - moderate nutrition appropriate for palms; does not tolerate richness
- Activated Charcoal 700 IV 700 m²/g adsorption, pH buffer
- Active Brain sodium purge, pH calibration, long-term pH stability
How many pots it fills
One kg bag fills approximately six to seven 4 inch pots and three 6 inch pots depending on the pot size
Instructions
Step 1: Fill the substrate in the pot and tap it to make the substrate settle
Step 2: Water it until you see water drops coming from the bottom
Step 3: Wait for 5 minutes
Step 4: Water it again until the water starts flowing freely from the bottom (This will start the Ph buffering and the EC to come down)

How to use
Pick the mix engineered for your plant family. Each is formulated for specific native habitat conditions.
Fill your pot to one-third with the substrate leaving the cavity of the plant, Plant the plant and fill the substrate completely
Water on first use to activate Mineral Lock and trigger Active Brain pH calibration and wait for 5 minutes
Water the substrate until it drains freely. The substrate self-manages drainage, nutrition and pH for 1 - 1.5 years. No testing required.
